Module 1

Financial Management

Close faster. See clearer. Stop guessing about cash.

Our Perspective

Most finance teams aren't short on effort — they're short on time and trust in the numbers. When the ledger lives in one system, the bank in another, and the real answers in a spreadsheet on someone's desktop, every close turns into a reconciliation marathon and every decision waits on data that's already out of date. We've spent 25 years watching that pattern repeat, and it's never the people who are the problem — it's the disconnect between them. Business Central breaks the pattern by making finance the single source of truth the whole business posts to, so the question stops being what the numbers say and becomes what you do about them.

Financial Management is the accounting and reporting core of Business Central — the general ledger, banking, cash flow, fixed assets, and multi-currency handling that every other part of the system feeds into. Instead of stitching numbers together from a bookkeeping package, a banking portal, and a stack of spreadsheets, you work from one ledger where every transaction posts in real time. It benefits finance leaders, controllers, and business owners who need the books to be both accurate and instantly visible — not a month behind.

What you can do

  • Manage the full ledger: Run your general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, fixed assets, and multiple currencies from one connected ledger — every posting updates your reports the moment it happens.
  • Plan and forecast: Build budgets, forecast cash flow, and model what-if scenarios inside the system, without exporting anything to a spreadsheet that goes stale the next day.
  • Report with confidence: Design financial reports once, then reuse them every period and slice results by department, project, region, or any dimension you choose.
  • Let AI do the busywork: Use built-in Copilot and AI agents to draft reconciliations, suggest account entries, and summarise variances in plain language, so the team spends less time keying and more time reviewing.

Inside Business Central

Under the hood, you get a configurable Chart of Accounts, General Journals, and recurring journals, and up to eight Dimensions for slicing every transaction by cost centre, project, region or anything you define. Financial Reports (the renamed Account Schedules) let you build your own income statement, balance sheet and KPI layouts, while the Cash Flow Forecast and G/L Budgets drive the charts on your Role Centre. Fixed Assets handles acquisition, multiple depreciation books, maintenance and disposal; Bank Account Reconciliation imports statements and auto-matches lines; and Deferrals spread income and cost across periods automatically. For groups, Intercompany postings and Consolidation roll multiple entities — in multiple currencies — into one set of accounts, with VAT/GST and tax handling built in.

The business impact

  • Shorten month-end close from weeks to days with automated reconciliation, recurring entries and continuous posting.
  • Get a live picture of cash position and profitability instead of waiting for the books to settle before you can make a decision.
  • Cut manual data entry and the errors that come with it, and stay audit-ready with a complete, traceable trail behind every figure.
  • Consolidate multiple companies, branches or entities and report across all of them from one place, in any currency.

Works with

Financial Management connects natively to Microsoft 365 — export to Excel with the Edit in Excel add-in, analyse trends in Power BI, and pull live figures into reports without rekeying. Add Dynamics 365 Sales for end-to-end order-to-cash, or layer on payroll, expense-capture, document-capture and automated bank-feed extensions from Microsoft AppSource to remove the last manual steps. Because every module posts to the same ledger, there is no integration to maintain between your finance system and the rest of the business.

DIY-ERP Implementation

Your chart of accounts, dimensions, financial reports and bank feeds aren't configured in a consultant's head and handed over later — they're built inside Business Central using the DIY-ERP toolkit, with your nominated Super User learning the setup as it happens. You self-prescribe the scope, so there's no discovery waste, which lets us commit to a fixed price and a guaranteed go-live date. You finish owning a finance system you understand, not one you depend on someone else to run.
